No Extension of F-1 Status for Students Changing to H-1B Status

The Nebraska Service Center has advised AILA that USCIS headquarters has indicated that there will be no “cap-gap” F-1 extensions of stay this year. The NSC further stated that students whose status expires prior to October 1, 2006, will have to depart the US and reenter as authorized by the H-1B visa.
