USCIS TO REQUIRE SOME N-400 & I-485 APPLICANTS TO TRAVEL FOR INTERVIEWS

In an effort to improve its processing times for U.S. citizenship (N-400) and Adjustment of Status (I-485) applications, USCIS is implementing a national strategy to transfer some of these applications to less busy field offices. This may now result in some applicants having to “appear for an interview at a field office outside of their normal jurisdiction.” USCIS has not, yet, indicated how far it may require an applicant to travel for his/her N-400 or I-485 interview, but has stated that all bio-metrics appointments will continue to be scheduled at the nearest application support center.
